Question about installing sleeves
Okay bear with me I am still learning a lot this is my first 4 cylinder I have ever worked on. Trying to learn even more since I cracked my sleeve in my car. Okay this weekend I took out my engine and disassembled most of it. I am either going to have my block resleeved or buy a block that has already been sleeved and go from there. I found a shop near my house in PA that has been building race motors for year. The only catch is he has been building V-8's my question is there any type of special knowledge to resleeve my LS block with after market sleeves such as dartons? I just want to make sure he can not mess anything up since I really do not think he has done a 4 cylinder. If you must flame and say only take it to a place that does 4 cylinders can you tell me why and back it up with some good proof instead of just that is what I heard. TIA
I would just make sure they use a cnc machine to do the job...there are a few shops that do aand do they work for a good price (GE for one) and it is well worth the wait and shipping
Yes he has a CNC machine. Like I said he has been building V-8 race engines for many years and really knows his stuff with him. I just want to make sure it is mostly the same concept. Can anyone tell me what is actually required to install the sleeves in a block. And are they 4 individual sleeves or just one continuous sleeve. Sorry I told you I was new to this.
4 individual sleeves.
And remember to measure everythingAFTER it's been sleeved to make sure everything else is aligned.
