Default Question about sleeving

As many of you may know I cracked a sleeve and my casting in my motor over a month ago. I got a new motor from the junk yard so my car would be up and running again. My question is about sleeving a block. When I took my cracked block to my machine shop the guy told me he would rather not install darton sleeve or any sleeves for that matter in my block b/c of my casting being cracked. He said it would still be a weak point in my motor. My question then is should I just ditch my block and get one that has no cracks or how do most people get there blocks fixed when they crack a sleeve and casting? I do not know how far down my crack in my casting goes b/c I have not had the stock sleeves removed yet. I just do not want to dump a sh!tload of money in my block with new sleeves and pistons and so on and then have it not work. Any help on this would be great. Thanks

You can have the casting welded, depending on how extensive the damage. If i was going to spend the money on sleeving an engine I would just get another block. What shop are you talking to in the allentown area that will do the Darton sleeves? I'd recommend that you get GE to sleeve your block. I am on my 3rd one (sold one, using one now, and having one sleeved right now).
