Any EE people that can help me?
I seem to have an odd electrical problem with my car. The first one is the driver side door. Usually if you insert the key in the door and turn to lock/unlock, it should unlock all doors. Instead, you have to hold it for a couple seconds until it responds. (The passenger door behaves correctly and immediately locks/unlocks all doors).
Another problem that seems to be the same problem is my winshield wipers. If I turn it on int/low/high, it won't work for about 10-15 seconds...even at the fastest setting. But after waiting a while, it kicks in and after that point, it will work fine. But if I turn it off and then try to turn them back on again, it will stop for about 10-15 seconds until it kicks back in.
Would corroded wires cause something like this? Any ideas? Do you think the door and winshield wiper are the same issue?

Supposed to be that way. When unlocking drivers side door, you may not want all the doors unlocked so you have to hold it. Passenger side, they assume you are letting people in or whatever and all doors unlock. It's a nifty feature.

The wind shield wipers tuck themselves out of the air stream when turned off....better gas milage. Once turned on they must untuck then start wiping.

Ok, so the door thing might be a 'feature' but the winshield wipers are not. Like when it's pouring rain outside, I turn my winshield wipers on the fastest setting. THEY WON'T GO ON AT ALL for a while...i can't see a thing until finally after waiting a while, they start going like it should: the fastest setting. That's definately not a feature. I had to pull over when it was pouring down rain the other day because the winshield wipers wouldn't come on and i couldn't see a thing.
Yea, since then I put rainx on it but that doens't change the fact that they're not running right.
No warranty...it's a 9yr old car.

LoL. I'm slipping. I thought this was the 2000.
This sounds like the main relay might be going out. I don't know if the Door locks were a feature like that 9 years ago.

Hmm...are there more than one relay that would make the passenger door work fine and the driver side not?
Sorry, I usually put my signature so I expect people to know what car I'm talking about. :S That was my fault...the car is a 1994 Honda Accord EX 4dr

Your drivers door is working just fine. Every honda I've been in with electric locks is exactly the same way. Its a safety feature if you're a scared old lady in a parking lot and don't want all your doors open.
