Icon2 Power locks. Need help.

Well i've had this problem for awhile but haven't felt like fixing it. But recently i got a key less entry/remote start and need it to work.

So here's the problem.. When you pull the driver door handle out to lock it, it doesn't turn the lock. You have to pull the handle out and push it yourself for it to lock. With this problem it makes my keyless entry pretty much pointless. I was wondering if anyother people on here have had this problem and could give me some advice.

Thanks, Nick.

Is this just one door? all doors? Is it the inside door lock switch that you are using? Does it lock when the door is closed? Year and trim please.

Why are you pulling on a door handle to lock the door?

2000 GSR, and to lock it I either hit the lock button, or flip the lock switch (why it has both, I have no clue), but either way no messing with the door handle needed...

Not clear if you're describing an electrical or mechanical prob - let's see...

I don't pull the inside door handle to lock the door (or outside for that matter).. I either use the electrical switch to lock (if I'm inside) or the key (there's an electrical switch on the lock itself that electrically locks all doors when the key is turned CCW to lock.

If the electrical stuff isn't working properly - that's one diag path we can go down.

If the lock button in front of the inside driver's door handle doesn't mechanically lock the door when rotated (and the red/orange part disappears), then you have a mechanical problem inside the door - that's a separate diag path we can discuss. For that you'd pull the inside panel and inspect the rods and how they're connecting to the latch mechanism.

Or -- are you describing a different function?

On every honda i have ever owned, when you go to lock your driver side door you have to pull your handle out then press lock to prevent locking keys in your car. My problem is when i go to do that the moving part on the lock ( i dont know the correct word) does not move i have to push it with my hand like its binding up or hanging up.

Strange. Definitely not the case with my 2000 GSR. I don't remember if my 91 LS needed that though...

nWilk666: you are correct. On any Honda, if you try locking the doors on a front door with that door open, you do need to hold the door handle in the open position while pressing the switch, otherwise the locks will unlock automatically.

Do both doors lock if you use the lock switch on the passenger side? If yes, you may have a bad driver's side switch or wiring in between switch and actuator. If no then you have a bad driver's side door lock actuator.

It does not lock with both doors closed from the passenger side. So i'm guessing its the driver side door lock actuactor.

Thank you sir.

Fixed it. Took door panel off and lubed all the lines with lithium grease. works great now.
