i just got this y8 intake mani...took the TB off and saw this...



how do you feel about those dings?

kinda looks like oil?!?!

here is the TB itself...




any ideas?

 

The oil is probably coming from you pvc system, this is why most people here run inline catch cans.

first time you seen the inside of an intake?

that is pretty normal stuff, dont touch it, it is BLACK!

remove with carby cleaner etc

a catch can will help reduce this...

waht 'dings' are you talking about?

there are two slots that are meant to be there to let air past the TB...???

easy man...it just might be the first time i have looked at an intake. that is why i came straight to the good people here at HT. if you look at pic 1, at about 11 and 5 o'clock yiou can see what i am talking about. now that i took a closer look...it might be machined in there...i guess. they just look like chunks taken out. but anyway...over all it looks good right?

see the last pic? there are two 'ports' on the TB at about 11 and 5 o'clock, this is where the dings line up with...

over all it looks pretty clean, i have seen filthy ones that looked like they have been painted black...lol

thanks a lot...thats what i needed. now i can concentrate on getting it put on. you wouldn't happen to be a single cam guy would you? just wondering...peace.

the TB is from a 99 EX...i got the whole intake manifold as one piece. one more question, would it be wise to have this TB bored out while i have it off the car? is there a max amount i can go with this TB? is it worth it? thanks in advance.
