Pro drive oil pump gears...who's got them?
Just curious as to who has the pro drive oil pump gears on there boosted setup?Reason i ask is cause i am in the early stages of boosting my car and wondered if it's worth getting them. I know they are very pricey but they can save you a ton of money down the road should something happen. Also since my motor is apart i feel this is the time to do it, if there worth it?
Feedback guys!

I don't believe it flows more oil. Its an insurance thing. Some people belive that the gears in the oil pump fail under high hp&rpm. Other people dont believe it. ?? Its been debated...and all I can say is, its an insurance thing. Kinda like putting a GSR girdle on an LS bottom end....some people believe in it-others dont.
if anyone has ever seen the MTV show real life Im a street racer he sells those things like hotcakes and is going to ship syrup with them. what a tool

stay stock, so far I have seen NO stock gear shattered, while I have seen a Pro Drive gear shatter...
it does not pump out more volume I believe ( I may be wrong), if the gear are the same size, it will not pump out more volume, not even a 1cc. It just that the pro drive are created from billet piece, i.e. stronger materials, when the crank is turning at 10-11K rpm, less chance of shattering..than the casted version of stock pump gear...
I ran stock gear..

I have seen the oil pump drive gears fail in road raced integs and civic Si's. They don't shatter, but usually grind away some shavings and start to cut grooves in the gear, allowing oil to flow through without getting pressurized, thus maiking the pump fail and destroying every other oil needing part if let go for long enough. Though many times it's not the pump gears that cause the problem, usually harder metal shavings from the block find there way into the pump and take it out, at which point I can't really see pump gears helping a great deal. Just replace your pump every now and then, and keep a clean block, and you should be fine.
My Ls gear gave out for some reason. Now that I look back at it it was the original factory one from '94. That's kind of pushing it though.
By the way three teeth actually sheared of and took out the rest of the pump.

I've heard they are good for Bseries motors(that's why I bought one), but now I've been hearing a lot lately that teh Hseries prodrive gears keep on breaking
I have one but I dont have it installed yet.. who knows.. some people say Prodrives break some people say stock shatter... run what you have. As long as your clearances are correct and it spins freely you should be fine.. I wouldnt run anything other than a stock crank pulley either.. when there is no harmonic dampening your bound to shatter either after a while. Beat on a piece of metal long enough with a hammer and it'll break.
My vote goes to Toda...ive seen prodrive stuff break and also not fit right. I personally run stock gears and never have had a problem. I do check it ever so often though.

We run stock as well never seen one of our shatter. We run it brand new type R or GSR pump whatever they have in stock at the honda dealership. We also run stock pulley as well as every thing balanced.
I think the problem is people are buying the prodrive an using them in there existing casings. I highly dont reccommend that.

I didn't mean to say Toda's were any better, I just meant Toda did it first, and since they usually have enough backing to what they make, I'm sure both gears are good. Neither companies list the level of racing these gears would be required but I really doubt the companies have too much difference in the products... I mean its a single billet gear; if the Prodrive one breaks and the Toda doesn't you have to be doing something differently.
To me this is one of those "what the hell, why not" kind of parts when you are building an engine. They are probably designed for racing as intense as endurance racing or something but why not have the added protection?
