Default leakage around oil pan, and recall questions for 5th gens...

So I change out the crappy valvoline for some Honda Manual trany fluid today and decided to give the underbody a look over. Around the top of the oil pan there is a ring of liquid that appears to be dark brown oil when wiped off. no leakage from fill plug of the filter at all, its just where it bolts to the body. Im running Mobil1 synthetic 5w-30 and its only been in for about 1000 miles. Also just passed 120K on the engine if that helps at all, but what on earth could it be besides the obvious)leaking oil pan.

Second question. What recalls have been put on 94 LX sedans? Besides the oil seel clip thing? thanks!

There are no recalls on 94 Accords. BTW the balancer seal update campaign has expired.

You may need to replace the oil pan gasket that seats between the block and oil pan. Kind of a PITA though because you need to remove the downpipe from the exhaust manifold just to get the oil pan.

not uncommon, gaskets need replacing over time as they get brittle or what not.

take the pan off get a neoprine gasket and some hi temp rtv gasket sealent.

do the following 10 easy steps after putting car on ramp stands and blocking rear tires

1. remove exhaust pipe from header
2. remove gasket
3. with a dremel tool remove all crap from the block and oil pan
4. apply a thin layer of high temp rtv sealant to the oil pan
5. place gasket on oil pan
6. let sit 10 mins
7. rebolt oil pan to block according to manufacturer specs
8. reattach exhaust.
9. add proper amount of oil
10 start car and check for leaks

remove car from ramp stand

Excellent step by step YeuEmMiaMia, thankyou...
I think Ill wait until I get some drips though, it could just be the freezing cold shrinking the gasket or something...

cheers
