Sohc @ 8 psi VS Built NA Sohc
Hi, I just have some thoughts of my car in the future when I go back to Hong Kong
Now, I would like to build a sohc, this is for sure.. no matter if it's FI or NA
First thing I would like everybody to know that it's ILLEGAL to fix up your cars in HONg Kong, but my brother said it's easy to get rid of the cops, but who knows?? they always pop our hoods, probably just like you guys in CA..
If I am going to get a SOHC and turbo it at around 8 psi, I would have a pretty fast car like the one I have now.. I just want to beat those DOHC guys in HK
Then if i get pulled over, it's very visible that I have turbo, i am pretty much screwed....
So then I thought I would invest into an NA Sohc engine, and build a NA sohc engine which is not so visible than an FI, everything is inside the engine, right??
so even if i get pull over, i won't be that much screwed...
Now consider the costs of building an NA and FI, I would say it's around the same costs, right?? I am not sure on this part, some help would be good
For power, it's pretty obvious that FI is going to make more power, but how can i build a NA that can beat a Dohc??
Go ahead and give me some advice and opinions...
Sorry if this is a non-FI related, but I always post here

How about bolt on a JRSC and use stock airbox and shave off the "Jackson Racing" on the intake manifold? That should look pretty stock from a visual inspection, as the kit uses all stock components. You also have the option to bolt on an upgrade crank pulley and/or blower pulley.
i thought of that too..
but spending same amount of money for a JRSC would gain less power, sounds stupid
but it's a good thought...
HEY, how can a JRSC have a intercooler??

Also what I've seen before is to get a CAI, but use the stock hose to cover the piping. You slit the bottom of the plastic stock hose and slip it over the CAI pipe. You can't really tell unless you look under the piping.

A built N.A. SOHC motor that makes enough power to hang with a stock B series will easily cost you as much as a JRSC. It'll cost thousands to get 145 whp, and you will still have sh*t for torque. I'll take a turbo over a JRSC any day, but you already stated your situation. It'll easily get you 140-150 whp, AND a good bit more torque than going N.A. Sounds like you're screwed anyway. Just get something with 2 cams and leave it alone...

did you just miss my power output from my stock sohc motor?????? 257hp 217tq, just about the same as some bseries turbo cars and it still runs strong!!!

Ps your rods aren't going to be liking you if your running that much power through em everyday.
they have held up for over 20 dyno pulls, and over 10 1/4 mile passes i think they are doing just fine....... if htey were as weak as everyone says they are they would of broke long time ago

Hell no I didn't miss it. Those are damned impressive numbers... from a TURBO'd single cam. I was talking N.A.
