Civic owners . .
I am in the market for a 99-00civic. I dont know if I can afford an ex, so i am thinking about going for an hx or a dx. Is there a significant power difference? Would a dx be worth it? I probably will get an engine swap but thats like 2-3yrs down the road....

Get an HX.
They are the lightest coupes and have 115hp and the best O.E wheels on a Civic IMO.
You could add an EX tranny to that HX and beat EXs all day long.
I've seen dyno numbers where the HX motor outpowered an equally-prepped EX motor. The HX motors are actually quite strong, but what makes the HX slow is the shitty-geared long-*** HX tranny.
Plus the HX has power windows and doorlocks if you like that sort of thing.

does it have to be a 99-00? i mean if you can't afford a 99 ex i'd say get an older model if you really want an ex, but yea b18 said, hx would be very very nice, all you'd need is the painted moldings and an ex tranny and you'd be like an ex but better!
