I don't think you want to know what a new OEM tranny costs. I am shuddering just thinking about it.

What? a mistake or you do live in a Dutch-paradise. A brand new Y21 cable (JDM Y1 Euro equivalent) costs 5500EUR.

Are you sitting down-good. A 5-speed tranny direct from Honda will set you back about $2000 plus the install. I just had the Civic tranny replaced and the total bill for a Howard Engineering rebuild came to a lot more than that overall (the price includes the core charge). As long as you have a tranny in 1-piece you can do the rebuild deal with either Howard or Honda. Want a brand new one-prepare for a really big gulp.

wow that price is insane, could get a motor/trans combo for cheaper--i'll just have to keep searching for a good used one. the trans itself shifts great and never grinds, it just sounds like every last bearing in there is ready to seize--not a pretty sound.

if you replace every bearing in the tranny, it would probably only cost you about $300 + labor/bearing pulling fees. that isn't too bad...

as well as piece of mind--couple of months ago i asked a tranny shop about it and they said $700---so I left---but this independently owned down the street said $275--not including removal/installation of the transaxle--I think my best bet is to pull it myself and bring it there. But I'm still going to try to find a good used one first.

Try calling MMR. I know that they are not that good anymore but it's the only place that I know and thats were I had to buy both of my trans. I have a Y1. Cost is 350 for group buy and 500-550 for single buy.

Good luck finding something. I am not sure what the # is but I think the web address is MMRmotors.com or something like that.

I already have an Si, so to downgrade would kinda suck---I'm thinking about it cause I need a trans like yesterday--where in Jersey are you? BTW I'm Central.
