cylinder 4 still misfiring....help!!!
hey guys...ok so far i changed both the spark plugs and the wires on my gsr motor. when the car is at idle it runs smooth but there is a scattered sound, best way to describe te sound is something is loose and is rattling around. when i give a little gas the noise just gets louder.
i just had the motor built with Je 9:1 pistons (.020 over), eagle rods blah blah blah...any suggestions on what i should check next? i don't want to just start taking things apart without some advice first....thanks

the motor ran fine sinse the rebuild and only had the codes coming up about the O2's...then all i did was lengthen the primary wires and then the misfire started. no i didn't ceck the distributor yet..what should i be looking for?
Check the distributor rotor too...
check to see if there are deposits on the terminals inside the cap, and see if the rotor looks burnt.
I just replaced mine yesterday, fixed my problem. Ill post pics in a sec, hold on lemme take some

one more thing...also, did you check the resistance of your wires? none of them should be above 25 kilaohms. Do you have a multimeter to test them? its real easy
here, i took some quick pictures of my burnt shat. Sorry if some of them are fuzzy.
See how the edge looks a little brown? Mine was burnt pretty bad so I replaced it.

Here is the distributor cap. There are whiteish deposits on the terminals, see them?

also, here is the center 'axis' of the rotor. There are lots of black deposits on this, I wiped them off to see if it was black or not...so they're kinda gone in the middle. Looks like soot

hope this helps
edit- also check for coolant/rain or whatever might have leaked into the dist cap. This was the cause of mine, a coolant line popped off and sprayed its skunky fury all over the place
