Default Making my civic fast project.

I'm rather new to this, only had my car for about 1 year and started to "hook it up" about 6 months ago, you know tail lights, muffler, intake...but all this do is make people want to race you, but for what? my stock 115hp(?) DX engine really cant do much....mmmmm maybe if i put some sticker and decals i can win! hah! My car has been dissapointing me in acceleration and top speeds (why did i get a civic DX you ask?, cuz that what i could afford at the time and cuz i love the civic body style also i wasnt into hooking up cars or anything) But now i want to make my civic fast, my plan was to buy a new Si engine and then add a Greddy turbo, add some light racing rims, add a Greddy catback and take off some weight here and there. But the Civic Si engine only has 160hp so my question to you guys is, what's the biggest i can fit in a 95 Honda Civic DX (2dr) 5sp? i can go as high as $6000 for a fast engine, but tha's my limit, cuz i need to also add the turbo etc. Yes i know i can just buy a mustang and get about the same and not have to mod, but i want MY civic to be fast, even if all the civic it got in it is the body style....any help will be greatly appreciated

H22's are pretty cheap right now (less than $3K) and that's the biggest engine you can get into a civic without very expensive custom stuff. Place racing makes mount kits for H22s into most Civics I think.

oh. and use the search button. It really helps.

and welcome to HT!

Call these guys, take a week off work grab your money and drive to Lancaster CA. I've never dealt with this company, but it seems that they can help you spend your money well. Check it out:

"This is the same motor that motivates our 9sec Civic. It comes fully built turn key ready for your Honda or Acura to rip up your local track. *Complete long block, does not include turbo...

This B16A can handle up to 30lbs. of pressure and we currently dyno at 556 hp. This motor has hundreds of man ours of trial, error, and experimentation to make sure you get a reliable source of brute power. If you want the ultimate in performance and reliablity for this amount of power there is no other."

Turbo Ready 9sec B16A $3700.00

I'd guess that if you wanted them to set up a turbo and install it all (I doubt that price is installed) They'd cut you a deal.

If you wanted to go N/A:
"If you are looking for the natural way of things then we have have your solution. A fully built naturually aspirated B16A capable of pulling your machine down the quarter in 12.5 seconds. "

Naturally Aspirated Race B16A $2500.00

That's where I'd start. Just don't forget you need money to upgrade the rest of your system too. Tell them what you want to spend and see what 1/4 mile times they're talking. Here's the link:

maybe you should spend 4 grand on the suspension first, then get some buddies and do a gsr swap yourself for 2 or 3 or so k's.

I say start with something cheap like a D16, B18, or B16. Get a feel for it and decide what you want from there. IMO its better to start with a lesser(for lack of a better word) engine and build it to your specs when you find out what you want.

lets see some pics and links of the k20 in an ek!!
I am an all motor guy, as my civic is my daily driver. The "biggest" motor you can fit in there is an h22a. 200 hp 161 torque. They are $1850 from http://www.osakajdmmotors.com $200 extra if you want the lsd tranny. That's what I'm getting. But that's more for straightline, if you want "better" handling get a b18c5. 200hp, but only like 134 torque.

read some of the posts b4 considering osaka

but on a realer note, ur motor depends on what u want to do with it. if u want to go drag, the bigger the motor, the better. u won't need to worry too much about suspension [some ground controls and koni's, i'm not saying stock] on the track. but if u want to think about diversifying ur car, consider a built gsr [FI] or an itr [NA] if u have that much cash to blow.

damn...6k just for the motor AND THEN a turbo? that's like..9k at ur disposal.

Call Evan's Honda Specialist in Newport, TN. They do all my major work for me and have NEVER done me wrong! Call 1-423-623-3783 and ask for Chuck. Tell him Heath from Indiana sent you! Tell him what you have to spend and what you want to do with it. I'm not sure what he'll tell you to do, but I'll tell ya what I think. I LOVE my b18 and my custom turbo kit. I wouldn't trade it for anything else. Thats the route to go...b18 Turbo! Hope this helps.
