Default Thermal Exhaust

I'd be great if I could get some info on it. I've heard its nice and deep, but I'm curious is it gonna be a pain in the *** on the highway. And if its heavier than any other brand. Basically I want a stock look'n muffler as well...the dual pipe. And Al's soon to be muffler looks preeeeetty sweet. So if any info about it please help a guy out hhaa thanks

I have one...people rant and rave about how good it sounds... I like it a lot and only wish they made it in 2.5 inch format.

No they don't. Well at least not a month or so ago anyway. As far as I know, the only way to get 3" piping is to get it custom made by a shop. The exhaust you can get (universal mufflers) but not a catback system.

It was called Stealth when I ordered it. I think there is some confusion with the name of the system from Thermal for the 5th gen Preludes. I am under the impression they only have one system for the Prelude and it's the one with the two tips. Be it called Stealth or Classic, aren't they the same unit? Can someone confirm this?

Anyway I have sold the Thermal unit and had one built using an Apexi universal turbo muffler, VSRacing 3" resonator, Carsound 2.5" Cat, and 3" b-pipes. As you can guess I went the FI route.

edit: The quality of the unit was excellent. When I had it taken off, everything was a nice golden color. It was almost new looking after I cleaned it up a bit. If they made a turbo exhaust for the Prelude, I would've bought it in a heart beat.

There is the "stealth" model for the 5th gen. I bought mine here.... http://www.ptuning.com/html/Item-Des...elDesc=Prelude

I'm prob gonna sell mine cause I'm going FI.

From one of the 1st 5th gen THERMAL owners the answer is simple-there is only 1 version of the system. It is basically a "Classic-Stealth". Why, because the cones are in the tips as they would be for certian other applications.
We really like our unit on our 99 BASE. Have had it on some really long trips and it is just fine. On the street the rumble is fun too. The system is all-stainless and fits just like stock. The weight of components should be lower overall as the muffler is 1/2 the size of the stock one even with the larger diameter piping. The sound gets better over a period of time while the system is "breaking in."
Last , for those who wonder-the interior sound level of the exhaust is 78dB at 4000rpm. Under the car in my garage (4000) 90 degrees and 3' from the resonator the meter says 94dB. At the tips-I have no clue, but it is not loud. The sound is very smooth.
Happy Luding

why would yuo put cat backs on, its the same layout and size of stock pipe, its just stainless, just get a good muffler. a,di bet you get sane thing. i just saw in a magazine a dyno run on a 97n sh, w/ Greddy cat back it madse 6 more hp, not worth it. to me

you get a cat-back for more flow. more aftermarket exhaust systems are not the diameter of the factory piping. getting a muffler does nothing for you but make sounds. you could also get a header, makes the exhaust sound smoother and as most mods do, make the vtec x-over smoother.

also, if you have an FI'ed car, then you REALLY should get bigger piping because of all that restriction.
