Default vtec engagement conditions.

So i read like a FAQ somewhere that gave the conditions neccasary for the engine to engage vtec. oil pressure, rpm, etc... just wondering if anyone still has that link or somthing similar, i work with some dude that likes to take people out to his older lude, turn it on, and floor it in park and say "hear the vtec kick in?" and it just annoys me to no end..i just wanted to get all my ducks in a row before telling him hes a moron and why...thanks guys.

As in "reasons why my Type R doesnt engage vtec while im in neutral and revving the engine" kinda thing.

VTEC will only engage in neutral if you have an aftermarket controller like a VAFC.

Needs correct oil pressure, temp, and it also depends on throttle position.

actually, its the following:

Oil pressure
Water temp
RPM
Speed
Load(ie vacuum)

By "in park" are you saying that the car is equipped with a PRNDL?

Older VTEC Preludes were not available with slushboxes.

Isn't load directly related to throttle position? Or is that affected when you go up hill and downhill?
