getting 18" rims...what size of tires and offset???
Hi guys, friend of mine is getting 18" rims. he has a S2000. Just wondering what size of tires and offset should he get for his car. thanks for any information.
eeek, why are so many S2K owners buying 18's?? he does understand that his acceleration will be slower with bigger wheels, right?
I dont agree with 18s for a s2k but i recommend the SSR type-C (competitions). They are super light and have an arcenite/chrome/silver/bronze finish. Those or go with rays' volks TE37s. Either way you're looking at around 450+ for each wheel, but these are simply the best. Of course if you want to spend more money get gram lights. take a look at the wheels they have here http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/menu/wheel.html

The gram lites are nice unless you are lowering your S. The offset is a little aggresive.
I have to agree with the SSRs' though, dem dere are some nice wheels.

PM Jerrypeterson. He may flame you for the 18's, but he'll have the info you need. I feel you on the 18's though, I got em!

For a current example of the crusade, check this out: http://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthrea...hreadid=100487
At this time, there still are no vendors selling 18's in the correct offsets. You can however, special order wheels from a vendor like Fiske or Volk ($700/wheel'ish) in the correct offsets. Now this doesn't mean you can't buy 18's with GHETTO_OFFSETS and have them "fit" in the wheel wells. On bumpy roads or at the track they *might* work if you run narrow rubber on them. If I bought a 9" wide wheel, I would like to at least strap some 275's on them, not the 235-255 crap most of the S2R guys have to run to keep from rubbing.
Just last month, I watched a guy "Fender Cut" a pretty new set of Hoo$ier$ Tire$ down to the cord after the suspension bottomed out. Bad offsets were to blame. Cost? $300 to replace the tire. Only a hammer was needed to fix the wheel well. But I digress...
If you are *willing* to try 17's, Mugen MF10's, Volk CE28N's, etc. are available in passable fitments. Most of these though, will limit you on the size of tire you can run. The more ideal the offsets, the wider a section-width of rubber you can shod those bad boys in. And we all buy wider wheels so we can run wider tires right? (SOMEBODY OUT THERE PLEASE AGREE)
-->Minimum <-- Front Wheel offsets:
18x6.5 = +50 front minimum
18x7 = +50 front minimum
18x8 = +57 front minimum
-->Minimum <-- Rear Wheel offsets: (YOU WON'T FIND IDEAL, NO VENDOR SELLS THE WHEELS)
18x7.5 = +62 rear minimum
18x8 = +65 rear minimum
18x9 = +69 rear minimum
18x10 = +74 (Its unlikely that a mm larger or smaller will fit.) Max section width rubber is 285.
Edit: removed some of the flame material when I realized the 18's weren't for you, but your Bling-Bling buddy.

hey man, im doing the same, **** the haters...
i will soon be slapping on my new wheels.. just before the spring..
the volk racing LE37Ts, yes folks they are 18" and THEY WEIGH 16 LBS!!! gun metal spokes, with a polished rim.... priced at around $550 a piece they arent TOO bad.. as for sizes, i'm ordering 18x7.5" +48 for the fronts, and 18x8.5" +50 for the rears..
people think just because they are 18s they must be really heavy.. and well i think 16lbs will be light enough for me, and still have all the styling at the same time.. show AND go...

Your 8.5 +50 rear offsets after a speed bump... (aka Ghetto Stompers in action)
Sorry dude, your offsets won't work. You must have been lucky... I just happened to have pictures of wheels with the same width and offset you desired.

Perhaps those LE37's suck even more now. The worst part is that they are cast, and not available in custom sizes. $500/wheel poorly spent. You can like how they look all day long, but they won't fit the S2000 without looking pretty foolish. They will however, fit an Acura Integra, RSX, Toyota MR2, Honda Civic, or CRX perfectly. But like I said, its your car dude.

The SSR's don't have the correct offsets and four of them plus tires might weigh as much as an average 16 year old male. You could get away with them if you put on skinny tires and avoid bumps/turns that will agressively compress the suspension. But that begs the question as to why did you buy them in the first place. Bling yo!
Serious, without going made to order there are no 18's with the correct offsets available to my knowledge.

Its your car, its your money, its your personal taste, its your wheels.
