Default Where do your temp gauges rest while driving?

I noticed driving to work today my temp gauge was about only 1/4 way to H. Usually I'd see it at just below the 1/2 mark.. granted its been cold here lately 20-35 degrees... I still dont see why my engine is running so cold.. could it be a bad thermostat or maybe the cold weather? I know a cooler running engine is better than a hot running engine but i'm wondering if something is wrong.

On the stock temp gauge on my car, the needle just covers the 'bulb' part of the thermometer icon. If you are running cool it could be your t-stat is not closing enough because it's weak. You would also notice a longer than normal warm up time if it was.

Just bump antifreeze/water ratio... hehehe.. Your motor will take forever to warm up but it will run cooler overall... It should sit at about 1/3 of the way up the gauge... Atleast in between 1/3 and 1/2.... Latez

yea mine sits little below half durring summer and winter it sits btw 1/3 and 1/2. for what people say those minor mods of radiator caps and fan switches it does definately keep your motor running a little cooler.

If you're running a quarter away from H, I would imagine that your engine is overheating.

Check to see if your fan is working, if so, try changing your thermostat and check your oil to see if you have any water in your oil (Ex: white gooey **** on your dipstick) it means that your headgasket is blown.
