curious as to if a Y8/Z6 oil pump would fit in an A6 engine. they have almost twice the volume of the non VTEC pump.
anyone heard of it being done? i got my A6 on the stand and rebuilding, need to know if i should opt for the bigger pump
thanks

I would also like to know. Is there a difference in the Y7 and Y8 oil pumps? Are vtec and non-vtec oil pumps different for single cams?

imma keep this on the top for now,
the Y8/Z6 VTEC pump flows almost twice the amount to the D16A6 pump, and since i am rebuilding my spare A6 having more oil is always better.

Guess what I just found out? The A6 and Z6 oil pumps are the same. The part numbers are identical. So the 88-95 CRX/Civics have the same oil pumps (except for the CX). The Y7 and Y8's have the same oil pumps.
So the Y7 and Y8 have the same oil pumps but they're different from the 88-95 CRX/Civic oil pumps...don't know which is better, I'm guessing the Y7 + Y8's are have better flow.
So in conclusion, D-series vtec and non-vtec have the same flowing oil pumps oppose to the B-series which makes a difference between vtec and non-vtec oil pumps.
Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

you are correct.
hereis the info on the D series. My original thought was to use the Y7/Y8 pump on an A6.
that would solve all my oil starvation problems.
