How can I tell if my car is wired for VTEC???
Hey guys, I have a 1992 Prelude Si 4 Wheel Steering and I am going to be putting an H22 swap into it SOON!!! I was wondering how I can check to see if my 92 Lude is pre-wired for VTEC.
Are there any 92 Lude owners out there that was actually already wired for VTEC???
ASny help is greatly appreciated.

no usdm 92 preludes Si's were wired for VTEC, some 93 Si's were and all 94 on preludes were. i have a 92 and had to wire it when i swapped in my h22a4, its no big deal really, not worth stressing over.
What?? What do you mean wired for VTEC? Do you mean to ask is that is your wiring harness setup to support an H22a motor, no, its not...
Actually, I think some 4th gens were factory wired for VTEC, even though they were not equipped with the H22. I have heard numerous reports of this (from people who have found their car to be wired), but no one can nail down the specific years or trim levels that were so wired. A preludeonline.com member actually sent me a picture of the wiring (essentialy just a connector coming from the in-car harness, with nothing connected to it) in hopes that we could add it to the FAQ. I feel like an ***, 'cause now I can't find the pic

what? how is it now, I used my stock harness and i have not CEL's and not problems at all. Why do you say it not set up for a H22?
papa, did you do the extra 3 wires for the vtec? i have the helms electrical manual the shop manual and they do not stress anything about 3 extra wires, they go in to great detail about the whole system.
what three wires do i need to add and where do they need to go? im almost at the point where the swap is done and i just have to start crimping wires together. thanks for any help you could give.

actually it is two wires, one for your Vtec solenoid, and one to your vtec pressure switch, there is technically another wire but i don't count it because it is a ground for the vtec pressure switch and i jsut got a 5" piece of wire and made a connection to the chassis. much easier than running it to the ecu through the firewall like some have said, and works perfectly. um yea what did you want to know again? i thin the pinouts are A6 and D4 for the ones you need but its been a while, somebody check on that.

Swapping an H22 into an h23-equipped car, you will need to add:
-VTEC solenoid, (signal=Green/Yellow to ECU Pin A4 )
-VTEC pressure (oil pressure), (signal=Lt blue to ECU Pin D6 )
-VTEC pressure (oil pressure), (ground=Black/Red )
Swapping an H22 into an f22-equipped car, you will need to add:
The wires listed above AND. . .
-Knock sensor, (signal=Red/Blue to ECU Pin D3)
-IAB, (signal=Pink to ECU pin Pin A17 ), (power=Blk/Yellow to 12v+ switched power source (hot with key in "on" or "start")
