Default d16y8 IM on an a6???

ok i bought a d16y8 head a couple weeks ago. i'm not sure if it was from an automatic or manual tranny car, how do i figure which one it is??? i'm going to be using the y8 head when i put it all on and my car is an manual tranny, so i need a manual tranny IM right??? I was planning on using either a bored out LS tb or a b16 tb if that makes any difference??? thx for the help ahead of time!

The only major difference is that the IAC is mounted on the back of the intake manifold on the manual trannied one and the IAC is built onto the TB on the auto. I think there is also a spare vacuum port on the auto one.

You should be able to use either manifold with matching TB as a swap donor unless the IAC and map sensor plugs are different.

Nope. The EACV which is mounted on the throttle body of the auto does not work because it is a 3-wire sensor instead of a 2-wire. Either get the manual y8 manifold or drill holes in the back of the auto manifold so that you can bolt on a EACV. Just de done with it and make sure you get one off a 5-spd, it's way less hassle.
