Default Adjusting a hydrolic clutch (2000 Civic Si) ?

At the very top of my clutch pedal there is this "dead space"... probably a solid 1.5-2 inches worth.

Plus the bottom of the pedal does absolutely nothing, and all the enguagement is in the top few inches (before the dead inches).

So can I adjust this a little better? There is a little **** on cable trannies right? But what about hydro?

Thanks everyone.

PS: I search through 7 pages on "clutch"... but I couldn't find what I was looking for...

all hydro trannys are self adjusting, the only adjustment is on the pedal

you mean when you press the clutch in, you have a little dead space where it doesn't do anything and feels flimsy until you press it in about an inch or so?

if so, that is the pedal spring, I believe.. I have this on my 00 si too. I think it's there to help protect granny drivers from accidentally slamming on the clutch...

you can supposedly remove that spring and it will remove the "dead space" and actually let the pedal sit about an inch lower.. i've been meaning to do it myself, but just haven't had the chance and don't really know how (although im sure if i inspected it enough, i'd figure it out)

Wow that is some good info. Thanks I'll look into that.

So how come my clutch enguages so damn high in the pedal? It seems like the pedal is 80% out before it even starts to grab.

And I don't THINK my clutch is worn, it'll still bark 2nd gear pretty easily, and it'll launch hard too.

well if you need to let the pedal out 80% of the way before it begins to grab, chances are your clutch is worn or is on it's way to being worn...

also sometimes the weather affects it.. I don't know how or why, but sometimes my clutch will feel kind of mushy but then a few hours later or the next day, it feels fine... probably just because they are cheap, crappy, honda clutches..

I have also noticed that sometimes (weather related) it grabes better/worse. Interesting.

Thanks.
