Default '89 DOHC Integra Motor into 90 Civic Hatch. What's needed???

I might be picking up an '89 Integra Motor tonight for my 90 Civic Hatch DX. I was just wondering what is needed for me to swap that motor into my Hatch?

Would the Civic Axles work with this motor or would I need Integra Axles? What about motor mounts? Also can I use the Civic Cable and Linkage for the clutch?

If anyone has experience with this swap before please give me some advice on what I would need and how much would it costs. I'm getting the engine for a very good price. Thanks for any help.

Jesus f&*king Christ----that will NOT work noob----go with a ZC motor---and be done with it---regardless to what your redneck friends say it will not happen...Okay?----oh yeah BTW these are the kind of questions that are degrading the ef forum.

I did use the Search feature but couldn't find the answers to my questions. I am getting this engine for a very cheap price that's why I am wondering what would be needed for the swap. And why wouldn't it work? Isn't this engine pretty much the same as a ZC besides lower HP ratings? Both are 1.6 DOHC Non-VTEC. If anyone could help me out on what's needed on the swap, I would really appreciate it. Thanks again.

BTW....why would these types of question be degrading to the EF forum? The way I see it........the only dumb question is the ones not asked.

It is mounted different, it will be a MAJOR pain to put in any 88-91 civic. It just isn't the right choice, buy the ZC. I have a friend that would Give me the D16A1 if I wanted it, but its no were near worth the hassel. That's why your getting a hard time about it. ZCs are cheap, and drop right in, add one wire, and hamer down !. I was once told the integra motor would drop right in an older CRX though...

Thanks for your help man. I came in here to try and get some help so I didn't need a smart mouth like that telling me that my question is degrading. I don't know much about Civic Hatches nor do I know much about swapping this or that. That's why I asked about this. Thanks for letting me know that it won't work. If I didn't ask the question I would've went ahead and bought the engine, Now I won't have to hassle with it cause I know how hard it would be. BTW.....how much is a ZC motor complete? This is just my Project car so I don't want to put too much money into it. Thanks

Hey, Breaka. Maybe need to start a FAQ section somewhere on H-T so that all the newbies can have their questions answered without posting.

I believe that you guys have lost your perspective concerning being helpful. When a new guy comes along it should be understood that they may ask a few "old" questions. To slam him just because he is new and not as experienced is just plain bad manners. I have asked similar question as I learned more. Be patient and Kind with your answers or don't bother. A negative response only makes the new people discuouaged. Maybe you should take a break for awhile then come back with a fresh attitude.

Bitch if you like to me I can take it!

I agree with TPR.
Glad to see something was said.
The fact that the person chose to research the swap , shows that they are trying to learn and have an interest.
They shouldn't be ridicualed for it.
We all come here to learn and share, aswell as gain knowledge, or most do.
We are all newbies in a sense, especially since the hobby is a continueous evolution. What was once deemed impossible is fast becoming possible, things that were once a major projects have now become simpler and easier.
Why because there are people out there applying there knowledge to make change,so that we all can benefit from it.They also at one time were newbies, but chose to look beyond the petty degrading remarks and carry theirs and our dreams forward.

it can be done, i know someone who did it, but i takes custom(read "ghetto") mounts, custom bellhousing work, etc, etc, etc, ,and it still wont sit right probably, and your "custom mounts" probably will make you want to wiz in your pants due to embarassment when they crack off. generally, its a bad swap. i got my zc, which i LOVE, for roughly 800 bucks for the motor, a new clutchmasters clutch, an intake, 89 integra ecu (best for swap) and many more odds and ends, like a wrecked tranny, mounts, etc.. zc's use the same mounts and are awesome motors. you can find a lot about them on this forum too...and anywhere else on the internet. good stuff. and the old integra d16a1's fit into the old crx's (84-87 i think) with minimal work, i believe they bolt up, and wiring on an si model is easy. I LOVE ZC's.

zc's around this area (i'm 80 miles east of you) usually go for aroun $800 for the complete swap. is your motor shot? if not, why not just convert to mpfi? it's quite the power adder, and you'd have to do it anways to go with a different motor

hope things work out for you, and welcome
