What intake for Hybrid?
i have a 91 civic si. i'm going to swap to the b16a motor this summer. i was going to purchase an intake right now. what kind should i get that will be most compatible with the b16? injen, aem? cold air or no?
whatever works for the stock D16 should work for the B16...at least the underhood filter on sticks. With the CAI's I suspect it should also be a close match.
Reason being the throttle bodies on both motors are in the same relative position. It helps to have the battery trunk..errr hatch mounted.

just buy a intake for your model if your swapping in a b16a my friend's crx had a AEM CAI on the stock motor and it fit on the b16a so i know it works
I'm not worried so much about the positioning of the throttle body in the engine bay; I'm more worried about the throttle body size. Far as I can tell, my B16A TB is much bigger than my old D16A TB... anyone have more info?
i don't think AEM has a smaller size isn't it like 2 3/4 or something like that when you buy it just ask them

just get the civic one.. it fits on my roomates 89 with b16 just fine.. and his dyno's just as strong as any others..
the diameter is a lil different, but it really doesnt make a difference unless you've got a 300+hp car..... in which case i dont think you'd be asking us this question

PURCHASE!? PURCHASE!? Why purchase when you can make your own custom air intake. Why shell out close to if not 300 bucks for a cold air intake when you can make your own for under 70 bucks! You could custom tailor your intake and position it just rigtht for your car, and it isnt very hard to make. As for your question i think they design the intakes by liter size of the engine 2.5 or close to that will work well for your car if you wanna go bigger 3" is fine for bigger engines and turbod engines, dont use it on 1.6 or you will loose low and midrange power. Heres a link that will show you how to make your own intake step by step. Also the new water valve created by aem will fit on this intake as well, so you can have your cake and eat it too!
Oops sorry about that, Heres the link!
