Is this d16y8 intake manifold from a auto or manual, and why does it matter?
I would like to put a y8 mani on my 91 Civic Si, and from what I've read they bolt right up, but you have to use the y8 throttle body, fpr, and fuel rail, right? And I also hear that it must be from a manual because the IACV is on the intake mani on a manual mani, and on the throttle body on an auto y8 mani. So why does it matter if it's on the throttle body or not? I assume it's because the a6 IACV doesn't bolt onto the auto y8's throttle body spot for the IACV. I hope I'm makeing sense, but let me know if I need to clarify. Heres the pic of the one I'm interested in, but the person won't get back to me to me to tell me if it's an auto, or manual. Here ya go!
To me, it looks like it's from an auto. But I'm not pro.

Well, that IM was sold, so I won't get that one. But I still don't get why it matters. Thanks!

You've got it backwards, the IACV is on the back of the manifold on the automatic, which is similiar to the 88-91 setup, and on the manual it is located on the bottom of the throttle body. Also the automatic manifold is easily spotted by the large EGR valve on the throttle body side of the manifold, and a plate underneath the fuel rail. It doesn't matter too much which one you get, it's just what ever you have. IF you don't have a throttle body that has the IACV on it, then you would need to use an auto, if you do then you can use a manual.
Wait, so with my 91 Civic Si, then I should get a intake manifold from a automatic d16y8, right? Then could I just use my throttle body or just take off the EGR valve an plug it up, or use and ls throttle body like said above? I'm kinda new to swapping intake manifolds. Thanks for all the help!

Wrong you need a 5speed intake manifold. If you have a automatic you need to switch the fast idle control valve and replace and work the Y8 manifold to accept it. Get the 5sp and it bolts right up and sensors all plug in, need to add a IAT to your intake piping because the Y8 doesn't have a spot for it. Reason because the 5 speeds IVAC uses the round 2 prong plug while the auto use a oval 3 prong plug no way around it. You can run the auto and have CEL
Ok cool. You cleared everything up for me. Thanks man. I'll be looking for a manual y8 mani.
One more thing: Am I right that from a y8 I need the IM, the throttle body, fuel rail, and fuel pressure regulator? Do I need all of them, or can I use my Throttle body? Sorry for all the questions, and thanks for all of your help.

No CRX-RX... you have it backwards. Go look at Hondaautomotiveparts.com for reference.

How about I just look at the one on my 90 DX with a Z6. Its a manual will post picks thursday when I get Internt back at my house, to show you what is needed.
