Hi I'm a newbie, but long time reader. My first post.
I have a question about my 98 Accord coupe 4cyl.
To make a long story short I avoided a head on collision and smoked a curb with my right front wheel. I bent the rim (and replaced it) and thought I needed an alignment, turns out I bent the front Crossmembers slightly. The alignment is out of wack by very small margins and the car does not pull to either side. The only visible damage is a slightly off center steering wheel.
I am wondering how safe it is to drive with bent crossmembers ? whats the worst that could happen ? I know my tires are going to wear out faster, but are their any other effects that this will have on the car.
Just wondering if its worth paying the $2000 CDN to get it fixed ???

Being that it's a relatively new car, you might want to get it fixed. I don't think it will pose any danger but it may cause problems down the road. Premature bearing/bushing wear and tire wear. If you don't mind, the steering wheel off center, an alignment shop should still be able to align it within specs so tire wear shouldn't be a problem...
You too. I hit a curb a while ago, end of November. I have a slightly torn piece of metal on my front rear crossmember. I going to be replacing the crossmember in about a month. I'm also going to be replacing various other parts at that time. After that I should have my car back on the road.

Thanks for all the help. Im getting an insurance adjuster to look at it on friday and get it fixed. The parts dont cost much its supposably a huge labour bill though. I am surprised at how easily they bend though.
Anyways thanks let you know how it goes
