theres a pond in my trunk
ok so i look in the trunk of my newly aquired integra and tehres a pond in there. there doesnt seem to be much rust so it might have happened recently. whats the first thing to give out and cause the trunk to fill up? its a 95 integra ls.
water runs down along the rear trunk/fender edges. Check your taillights for water as well. One last thing is the power antenna and mast. You may see corrosion or water leak there if the water drain hose from the antenna is disconnected..
your taillight foam rubber seals need to be replaced. mine lasted till last year and i have a 94. after a while they tend to soak up water rather then seal the water out. this leads to misted interior lenses and a whole lotta water in the trunk bay. i dodn't realize how bad the leak was in my car till i stopped my car one day at home forgot to hit the ebrake so i hit the normal brake and heard this slushing sound formt he rear, that i knew was nothte gas tank. you can get new material for the seals at a craft store just double them up and you should be good to go!! or buy altezzas they come with them and then sell the altezzas back on ebay, cause the dealership charges 75 a side(outrageous)

yea, with me I would have huge puddles of water in my trunk ever since I installed an S2k Antenna. I replaced the taillight gasket w/o looking at the drain tube and seeing that it had become undone. With me it was the drain tube, but I also had removed my stock spoiler and not plugged up the holes well, so some water is leaking from those as well

Yep - item# 4 - tail light gasket - very easy to replace, but you should use a garden hose to test and make sure that is the problem.

Its your tail light gasket....i'm pretty sure...it happened to me last month. But I actually drove my car not knowing that I had water in the trunk.....and alot of water came into the cabin....soaking my rear seats and most of the interior carpet.....really sucked. Moisture in your tail lights is also another sign of bad gaskets. And those gasket prices are no joke either.....i think they run somewhere around $30-40 a piece. Here is what I did and it works:
Take off both tail lights (8mm nuts)
Take off the gaskets and clean them thoroughly....taking off all the dirt and dust
Dry the gasket completely
On the gasket you will see an imprint of where the tail light squished it...take some silicone sealant and run it along this groove/channel (going around the whole gasket)
Take some vaseline and apply a thin layer onto your tail light (where it contacts the gasket)....this vaseline will prevent the silicone sealant from sticking to it permanently.
Place the gasket w/ silicone sealant (still wet) back onto the tail light
clean the area on the car where the tail light installs to
then reinstall the tail light ...... make sure you tighten all the nuts pretty tight without stripping them.
Voila!.......you basically made a new o-ring for your tail lights and no more water in your trunk or tail lights.
Hope this helps!

have a friend crawl in the trunk with a flashlight while you run water over the back of the car...then you won't go replacing gaskets and seals that don't need replacing.
