Default DRAG any good for SOHC?

well in my search for a turbo for my car i have come across the drag kit. these kits come with the t3/t4 right? which turbo would be best for my application? its daily driven, stock internals for now, will be built, and will be using hondata in the future. im concerned about lag with the t3/t4. well if you feel like it, help me out. thanks in advance. oh and the motor is a d16y8.

Before I blew mine apart I was getting full boost(13psi) at 3000. That wasn't too bad for the amount of power I was making. Of corse I was only running a straight DP at the time

The thing I didn't really realize with all these spool times is that, yes you are only making full boost at X RPMS but your turbo is making descent power about 1k before full boost.

If this motor actually will be built later on your gonna want a turbo that can take advantage of those internals i.e. the ability to flow more psi up top.

well then you are saying the drag kit will be good? im seriously thinking about this kit, and i know you have to choose the specs of the turbo you get, but im not sure what specs to go with.

my friend had the drag kit on a 88-91 sohc and it ran pretty good till he went stupid with the boost...

he got like 220hp at like 7-10 psi without hondata, jus an fmu. if i was going to buy a kit though...i love my apexi and the great thing is...if you feel that you're running out of power with that turob....you could switch it out with the bigger IHI turbo that bolts right onto the manifold from what i heard

When you say good to around 300-350 hp, does that mean 300-350 hp on top of what your engine is already producing? or is it total? Do you understand what i'm trying to say?
Thanks

i'm assuming total....unless you built your engine to run like race gas and hold 15-20 psi

I have that kit on my car. Same motor. I haven't got it tuned yet, so I don't know what kind of horsepower I am looking at, but for the money I would go with drag. I've had mine on since September and no problems so far. (Once you get the bugs worked out). I run 5psi daily and 9psi at the track. I reach full boost about 3300. Here is a thread I posted the other day. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=380858 I know people with the greddy kit that only run 15's.
If you are buying the sale kit from Importparts take what they say about shipping eta's loosley. They told me 2 weeks and it took 2 months. Not badmouthing them or anything, just sharing my experience. Be prepared to spend money. Good luck.

Hey you guys running APEXi, what 1/4 times and hp#'s you makin.

drag kit is good for the advertised 6-7lbs of boost its designed for.. and then some.
its a good upgradable system that you can boost more with proper fuel management and block work.

REV HARD is great as well...
