Default Safe compression ratios for H22a turbo

I was having an disscussion with a friend about compression. He said it was unsafe to turn up the boost on his H22a Turbo.

He has a 94-95 JDM H22a with an AEM plug and play,T3/T4 and 550cc's. I told him 400+ isn't as crazy as he thinks.

I was under the assumption if the engine is tuned correctly compression isn't a huge issue?

Can anybody give me some help either way? We'd like to end this disscussion tonight.

P.S. I spaced the post out for everybody's reading pleasure.

The lower your compression with boost the better. With high compression on a boosted motor you have a lot better chances of detonationg your motor while you are tuning it. With lower compression, you lessen these chances. Also with lower compression you can get away safely with more boost. 400+? Are you talking about 400whp? Have you ever been in a car with 400whp? I speak from experience, when you ride in a car with that much power every other car feels like a slug but sooner or later you get used to 400whp and you want more. On a stock h22a i wouldnt push anymore then 8psi due to the weak ringlands. I hope this helps to end your discussion.

dont go to low with the compression. 9:0:1 somewhere in there will be fine..
ringlands are what the ring sits in. they keep the ring from fallin out u know the grooves...
