Default Ignition coil question

Recently my car takes a couple of extra cranks to start it up. Sometimes it will start and then die immediately. My starter sounds like its fine, its not making the infamous clicking sound that bad starters do. I swapped out my dist. cap & rotor, and still have the problem. I've noticed that it happens whenever the car has been running for a while, not on cold starts. My question is, could it be a bad ignition coil? What are the symptoms of a bad coil? Thanks in Advance.

Check the main relay. Usually the coil is either good or bad. If it is the coil then it is the contacts of the coil that are corroded.
