Default Problem w/ Skunk2 retainer?

This topic came up on Team Integra forum. I'm wondering what you guys think.

MikeSarrGSR:
Dont be prideful, check them every 10K miles. I was running the Skunk2 units and I have had a problem with 2 after 20K. The second teir that holds the outer valvespring had fatigued off leaving 2 intake outer springs LOOSE. I noticed this after feeling what felt like valve float, I pulled the valve cover and fortunately I caught it before I dropped a valve. these things get thin like mad after 15K and need changing. I am scheduled to go by the shop tonight and pressurize the cylinders so I can put my stock ones back in for the time being. The Skunk2 units are good for RACE only do not run them on the street unless you have them coated or cryotreated or BOTH. I did not listen to advice and I forgot all about them in there and almost paid a HUGE penalty for it. BE AWARE OF YOUR WEAR!

Titanium Retainers really wear out that fast? I thought they were stronger than stock. Anyone else have this problem?

I'm wondering if this guy just got a bad batch of Ti retainers......haven't these retainers been out for a long time?? Wouldn't we have seen this problem posted more if these things last for only 15k miles?

They seem to get gouged by the rough edges of the springs. A couple of my Crower Ti retainers have this, despite my carefully filing any rough edges off prior to installation(there were few). I have about 15k miles on mine. I can certainly forsee a time when I'll replace them just for peace of mind.

Would it be possible that coil bind could be the cause or if the the valve spring installed height was incorrect causing the springs bind ?
