Default not going into 1st gear?

i got a 93 civic dx, with 120K and original clutch. Lately when i'v been driving and the car shifter wont move into 1st gear untill the car is at a complete stop. For example, im in 3rd gear coming to a stop sign, so i put the clutch in and when i slow down to maybe like at 5mph i try to put it back into 1st so i can take off again, and it wont go into gear unless the car is at a complete stop. i would have to force it in. but when it is at a stop, it goes in and out of 1st with no proiblem. this started to happen recently. im thinking my clutch is going because i live in the city and use the clutch alot.

it's not the clutch.. mine does that too and i have a brand new cluchmasters stage-1 clutch and a resurfaced flywheel... all about 6 months old.. It is just the tranny getting old.. and the syncros ******* up and stuff.. My tranny has like 117,000 miles on it.. Sometimes it will go into first.. but other times i have to be almost completely stopped.

My SI does that too. Try flushing the clutch if you think it'll make a difference. It should I think.

But mainly, it's a lock to your car doesn't blow up. Generally, so they don't have to waste money on anybody who don't know how to drive.

Well that puts my mind at ease. I was wondering about this too and just assumed it was supposed to do that. Now I know.

did anyone find out that an old engine mount and shifter bushing will make the same problem?
