Those with a VAFC, whats your VTEC X-OVER?
mine was set at 5300, then when i run at the track i turn it down to 4000, but then last night i turned it to 5800 and now it fells like it pulls alot harder then at 5300...?? is cause of the b16a? - i have a gsr ecu right now(see sig)...but what do you guys have your vtec set at??
I don't understand why you are moving your VTEC X-over so much. Are you getting this thing on the dyno in between changes being made? I mean you don't need to play with it all that much. Just get it tuned at a certain RPM to cross over at and then you are done. No sense in trying to go lower. The dyno is your friend
no i went to a dyno with it set a 4700 and it added a jump in 18 ft tq and 26 HP on the dyno...but i am just playing with it..my butt dyno trying to figure out what is best...
It doesn't pull harder, it just feels like it does. By setting the vtec higher, you get a stronger 'kick' when the vtec kicks in, that's all. You're better off setting it around 4500.

different setup requires different settings. you shouldnt use other people setting for your car. the best thing to do is go to the dyno, set your x-over as low as possible and make a run, then set the x-over as high as possible and then put the two power plot on top of each other and set the x-over where the two power curve cross. this is the point where the low cam drop off in power and the high cam picks up.
Yea, best thing to do is get it on the dyno. That's why mine is set at 4600...Hondata tuned...pretty much a stock motor (intake/header). Don't go off the butt dyno.
isnt that low...yes it is VERY low - but i dynoed on a MUSTANG DYNO..thats why it says acclamied...cause it was also a AWD DYNO...and i was the first civic he had ever dynoed..so i am gettin shafted - my and my friends think once i get my ECU i will be at about 155-157 somewhere in that range...but you guys are right. i will just leave it at 5300 and be happy....
when you raise your vtec engagement point with the VAFC it'll kick in "harder" according to the butt dyno. however, this won't be the best way to achieve the best power curve potential. a nice flat line on a dyno sheet shows a potentially strong power curve.
lifting the vtec engagement point to make it kick in harder would create a dip in your power curve, and therefore would not be a good power curve.
gt me?

I left my vtec point stock. And when i had the unfortunate experience of my car being broke into, they stole it. I went out and just bought a safc, no need to change it.
