Question about leaving Tranny open outside.
Hey..I was wondering if leaving the car outside with the tranny apart will do any harm to the engine..If it rain and snow? The hood is close but I was wondering if it could damage the engine by water consendasion? Thanks you for replying.
Do you mean tranny apart where you can see the gears, or just detached from the block? If you can see the gears, definately cover it up. If its just detached from the motor, just make sure you regrease the throwout bearing or even replace it before putting it back together. It would also help to plug up the holes for where you put the axels in so you dont get any rust. Be careful with the seals though when your plugging it up.
well, i'd put some cover over it, like plastic or something....
your car is outside while your tranny is apart in your garage? no worries, the parts that are now open to sight are always open to the environment, not unlike your brake rotors and calipers, but you can go ahead and cover it just for piece of mind.
now your tranny on the other hand, you should go ahead and take every precaution to keep those out of the environment.
