Im just wondering, do you get tuned for pump gas as well ? I want to get my car tuned on pump gas too so it runs well when I dont have C16 in it...How hard is it to tune from Pump gas to Race fuel ? How much longer would it take ?

 

tune it on pump gas (cheap, nice clean plugs) until you dont feel comfy doing so anymore, then switch over to C-16, do a baseline (note loss of power) and then proceed to turn the boost up and tune for power, you will get away with leaner a/f and more timing lead with the VP stuff. there you go- done. note the max "street fuel" boost levels, and run that (minus a psi or two for safety if you like) on the street with pump fuel, then go to your nearest drag strip and crank it up with the VP.

 

Shouldn't I save two seperate base maps, and load up each one and turn the boost accordingly for the type of fuel im running ?

 

that's exactly what i was thinking...how can you swap back and forth depending what kind of gas you have in the car? or do you just dyno w/ 93 and then throw the c16 in and raise the boost on the same map?

I was thinking just save two different base maps as two different AEM EMS files. Like working on microsoft word, saving your first writing, make changes to it and use "Save As" with the second file...

 

To be thorough, that's how I would do it, and each map would be completely tuned for maximum power and reliability, not to mention drivability.

yes, you can. However, if I had my preference, I would tune a chip seperately for each, that way if you had a boost spike or something of that nature, you wouldn't venture up into the higher timing and leaner fuel maps. I mean, it takes less than a minute to swap chips, there are tons of advantages to doing it this way, and the only disadvantage is having to swap chips.
