check the fluid level of your PS pump, it deffinately should not be loud.
Mine's always been loud, unfortuneately it doesn't sound as bad as yours though. if it's really that bad I'd get it checked out, definately not normal.
nope, nice and quite....metal to metal sounds? sounds bad.....

haven't encountered a problem w/ my PS Pump yet... metal on metal sounds pretty bad are you sure its coming from your PS pump? does it only happen when you turn the wheel or what? have you looked under the hood for anything loose or lack of fluid or anything? I'd get that checked out...
i think you might be talkn about the infamous idler pulley, its the small pullie between the crank and A/C pullies, you might wanna check it because on my car it made some high pitched metal to metal sounds
Sometimes when I start my car on cool / cold mornings with high humidity, my power steering pulley makes a screeching sound for a minute, until the engine warms up. I've traced it to the PS pulley by removing the belt the second it begins, which eliminates the noise. I'm pretty sure it's the bearings on the pulley, though, rather than the pump itself.
If your noise is anything like mine, that's what you're probably looking at. Mine doesn't seem to have gotten any worse, and it's been doing it for a long while. I've tried lubricating the bearings, with practically no change. Replacement of the pulley or just the bearings is probably the best bet (at least in my case).
good luck.

well i figured out what the noise was. i wasnt the pump itself, but the pulley the keeps the p/s belt tight. when i got my timing belt done last month they must have not tighted it so it got loose and started to wobble. i noticed this problem earlier and was going to take it back where i got the work done, but just a lil while ago the pully fell off. it was dark and i couldnt get the pulley out so i just cut the p/s belt and a/c belt
feels kinda cool driving with no p/s tho

ok now you readin? well my roomate had the same problem. he drove over to the dealer when i was busy so i dont' kno the specifics, but supposedly they just had to lube something up and hte problem was gone. The way my roomate told it, it seemed like a fairly simple problem to diagnose and remedy. Plus no charge under warranty. (at least there wasn't for my roomate).
Hope this helps. Swing by your dealer and see what happens. Besides, they won't go through and extreme repairs with out ur ok neways. hey see if you can squeeze in a free car wash while ur there haha.
