Check out my head!!! Warning: burnt valves lie ahead...
Luckilly for me, the head was not warped and everything was serviceable, and the compression was excellent and str8 across on all 4 cylinders, but that head was slowly dying. I knew it when it used to burn TONS of oil, I guess there were some bad valve guides and the seals were bad too, among other things.
Unfortunately this will take all of my tax returns + and entire paycheck
But the mechanic also told me that he can fix the IAB's since they have never worked since I have owned the engine, and there was also a crack in my header that was also there since I have had the engine. Hopefully my days of running 15's in a fully gutted hatch on drag radials are over....(I really really hope so)
crazyness...everything else looks good considering though.
could you send me a burnt valve? (I'll pay shipping).

btw, carbon build up on the pistons = +compression
if you have the time a simple clean up of the ports (on the side of the head) wouldn't hurt.

valves can burn up with time from detonation and the likes. also from over-revving.
metal can fatigue over time.

Well what might have also happened was it had something to do with the header, because the bolts broke off where that cylinder is and there was probably a teeny tiny gap and who knows maybe air got in there and did something, I dunno.
Tweakmeister, I would love to send you a burn valve, but I think the machine shop tossed them, (I would just go there myself, but it is a complicated situation and I am 3 hours away with no vehicle at the moment) but I will see what I can do, if I get them, I will PM you.

I really really HOPE that my car will run a normal 1/4 time now. I am gonna try and get it smogged by the ref pretty soon, I have already bought the stock intake, header, cat, and exhaust. It should all come in the mail next week and I will get my car next week I think, and I will put it all together and do a quick tuneup (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, change oil/filter) then it should be pretty much ready for the ref to look at it. I will have it all completely stock and everything *should* be hooked up. I'll have to make an appt and find out...
I didnt have much aftermarket stuff on it anyway, I only had an aem cai (for the sohc motor) and an apexi n1 (with 60mm piping). I am going to go with a custom 2.5" catback in the future though so I will probably sell the exhaust and I will probably end up giving the intake to a friend for a 12 pack or something.
After I get it ref'd I will have a totally stock motor, other than a quaife lsd, exedy clutch and clutchmasters flywheel. I have a really good idea and I think it might help alot of people. Heres my plan: When I have the totally stock motor, I will dyno it to get a good baseline, then I will save up money and buy a hondata and have it tuned a little bit, and post up the gains I got from a stock motor by going with the hondata, then after that of course, every other mod I put on I will dyno it and show the gains I got. I'll just have to find a shop with a dyno that doesn't charge too much...
I think its a good idea, I'll just start my own little site and it will be my journal on the performance history of my car
