Clifford or Compustar??? please help......and do you know of any good alarm places in MD?
ok, i'm getting an alarm but i dont know which one to get. i'm leaning towards the Clifford Matrix w/the pager or the Compustar one w/the pager. I was also thinking about the Clifford AVG4 but i'd like to have the pager. if you have any experience w/any of these, post your opinions on what you think i should get. it will be going on a '98 Integra GS 5-speed. can all of those remote start a 5-speed? and do you know of any good alarm installation places around MD?
dont go w/compustar, go w/ the clifford. compustar is some to go out of biz.
call Auto Essentials in Rockville. Ask for Adam @301-231-5444. If installed a lot of the Clifford and I love it.

I too have been debating over whether to get an Avantguard 4 or a Matrix RS3 w/ pager. Ideally, I wish that Clifford made a pager for the Avantguard 4, since it is overall a better alarm than the Matrix, but they don't. Perhaps Clifford will make a pager for the Avantguard 4, or perhaps introduce an Avantguard 5 w/ a pager? Does anybody know if Clifford will be adding a pager to the Avantguard series? If so, when will it be out? I can't find anything on future releases of Clifford alarms. I really want to know.
The avantguard4 will do a 5speed remote start but not the matrix. All you can really do to the matrix is wire in some switches and bypass the clutch. Or just hook up the reverse wire, bypass the clutch, and remember to not leave it in 1-5 gear. I am in va if you want something installed. Email is the key.

Honestly, the range on the Matrix 3 RS fob (same as the Viper, it's just DEI) leaves much to be desired. If your primary concern is getting paged when your alarm goes off, just get an auxilary system, like Autopage. Sure, it'll cost more, but at least it DOES something.
You can hook them up to any alarm you want. I have a DEI pager on my Clifford system.

Get the Clifford alarm (AG4) as it has many great features and is a proven name. Then you can get a pager alarm which works seperate of the alarm, and is wired in basically like an alarm, for example the pager goes off when a door is opened just like the alarm will. It's not dependant on the alarm, it just signals a door is open when the door switch becomes grounded.
Oh yeah, you can remote start the 5-spd with AG4, and it was meant to do that.
