At what point should you upgrade stock wiring?
75 watts rms, I would do it, although I would'nt consider going anything more than 14 Gauge...usually 16 is enough but the stock is 22/24 and sucks so its going to be an improvement. 12 is definetly too hard to route unless you get something with a thin jacket and don't even bother with any special flex wiring.
14 Is my recommendation, its the power run from the trunk to the fronts your worried about due to the length of the wire.

P.S have fun with the doors... Engineer vtec, but can't leave 1/8" more space in that stupid plug

Just make sure to get good quality wire. High frequencies travel along the outside of a strand of wire (skin effect) so you want a wire that has more the smaller strands the better, with a single thick strand for mid bass.

What brand and location for getting a decent 16 or 14 guage speaker wire?
If it's just a 75x2 amp, you can do 8 gauge. However personally I do 4 gauge to a distribution block for later upgrades. Running RCAs on one side of car and power on other side is to lessen chance of noise. Basically you try to keep the 2 seperated by at least 12 inches and where they cross, try to cross them perpendicular. I usually make my own RCA's and if I wanted I could tape them, to the power wire without getting noise. But to make it easy for you, I would just get a Monster Cable amp kit and some 12 or 14 gauge speaker wire. Circuit City or any other shop should have what you need.
I dont know much, and correct me if im wrong, can I just run the + side (fused) from the battery directly into my amp?
The I dont really want to have a distribution block and so forth, the less components I have to mount, the happier I am...

as far as the branding goes, you can usually get away with some Oxygen Free unbranded wiring found at most audio installer shops. At the typical base consumer level, these wires will offer the performance you need with a decent strand count, and also come much cheaper.
Just a thought; the good thing about that kit though is that it comes with everything you need. Less hassle, less headache for your own basic installs

Absolutely. I was saying that I do that because I know that later on I will be adding more amps, and it's easier to run the 4 ga right off the bat than to have to run another 8 ga for each amp. But for you, just get the amp wir ekit, it should have everything you need. Something like this:

I might sound ignorant but is it worth that much? All is a 8 guage wire and a long RCA, and thats 40 bucks? Or is this a very very high quality cable?
I noticed Monster just put out a 4 gauge kit w/ their emi/rfi shielded cables. Anyone know if these are all their cracked up to be?
So I should be able to find this stuff for under 40 bucks shipped if its 55 at crutchfield...
