Forged pistons in h22a4
will forged pistons work with the stock bore with out being sleeved
i only had about 20,000 mile on the block so my block was bored over .0020 to give the pistons room to expand

actually there is a way to put forged pistons in the h22a4 w/o getting sleeves. its a process that removes the nickel from the cylinder walls. the nickel is what causes the forged pistons (rings) from not properly sitting. it wont be as strong as sleeves and im not quite sure about the price. i have only talked to a few people that have done it. but it is posible.
Can you get more facts about this? I always thought FRM was the resason for not being able to run forged pistons in 97+ Preludes. Just how do you remove nickel from the cylinder walls?
There's no nickel on the cylinder walls. The cylinders use an FRM liner, not a nickasil coating. There's so many posts on this stuff, I hate to say it, but do a search.
i don't know too much about the process but i know people running forged pistons in stock sleeves and thats what they said it was... sorry ill try to do a little more research before posting next time.

UR pulleys, f-max kit, 8.5 lb flywheel, 3" exhuast (RPI muffler), no cat. and i think thats about it the dyno is posted at http://www.personal.psu.edu/users/w/...97prelude.html
I will have a new dyno in the spring with the NX N-ter cooler and maybe a new turbo.

its time for you to get a bigger turbo cuz boostedh23a is making 250hp on 7 lbs on his h23 and your car has more hp stock plus your boosting more and making less power....It just doesn't add up
The 60 trim is a good size turbo. It big enough to make 400+whp. I don't think it's an issue with the turbo size.
edit: My bad, I thought it was a t3/t4e. You should get the .60 trim t3/t04e or the .57 trim t3/t04e.

well if 248 hp is low for 10 lbs w/ a t3/t4b 60 trim .63 a/r what hp should i be at?
Yes you can run forged pistons. Here is how, go to swaintech.com, check out the PC-9 coating, it coats the piston skirts, allowing you to run forged pistons in FRM sleeves. You should at least get a block guard if your gonna run 10psi of boost, open deck isnt the best for boost. If your gonna spend the money though, Darton sleeves are about 600, so you would only be saving about $450. Is it worth the savings to risk week sleeves? I have decided to spend the extra money.
What's wrong with FMAX? I have no problems with mine and I pushed 273hp with 232 ft lbs. of torque on 11 psi.
IIRC Dirtylude was going to fabricate a special fuel rail that would hold 4 additional injectors and be run off the MF2 (MF2 can control up to 4 injectors), but that was before he went Haltech.
the original post at the top is mine under mine friends name............
