Default 81mm pistons in 81.5mm cylinder???

hey everyone i just picked up a b18a block and the guy i got it from said he had it a half milimeter over. along with the block he gave me a set of 81mm pistons so my question is will the 81mm pistons work in the 81.5mm cylinders with no problems? and since i wana make it a turbo motor im nervous about it

no. measure the cylinders to make sure how big they are.

they're not going to expand enough to account for an extra .5mm

Here's what you need to research: P2W (Piston to wall) clearance. No, 81.5mm walls with 81mm pistons will not work.

That would be a nice knocking and slapping motor and tons of blow by and no power at all... Pistons might expand like .002 of an inch...

Just to re-affirm what everyone else said, this IS NOT going to work. Piston-to-wall clearances are much closer than .5mm and thermal expansion isn't going to make up the difference.

i'd go to the jy and buy a b18a short block out of a da. should be able to get it for around 150 if you're dead set on using those pistons. then sell the current block you have and go from there

i just dont wanna spend the money on pistons but im gonna take it to my friend at the machine shop before i do anything and if it really is 81.5 ill just get a bare block from the junkyard and use the arp bolts girdle block guard and pistons that came with this one

Throw the block guard away or sell it to someone else. They're notorious for cracking sleeves by creating hotspots on the sleeve and hindering coolant flow.
