I think he's talking about setting his ignition timing, he did say he was only changing the distributor...
anyways, change the distributor, then hook the timing gun up (pos, neg on the battery, and the clamp on the #1 spark plug wire) turn the gun on and point it at the crank pulley, on the timing belt cover you'll notice a little triangular piece built into it, you have to look that dead on (sometimes there 2 cutouts to help you line them up easily, sorry buts its kind of hard to explain, but you should see them) then look at the crank pulley, theres 4 marks on it 3 are together, and one is seperate from the rest, the one by itself is 0* TDC, and i THINK the one in the middle of the 3 is 18* BTDC, with the gun pointed there itll look as if the mark is 'standing' there cuz the gun will flash at that point everytime, turn the distributor and set it accordingly

you do this while the car is running, i think you set it to the red mark but i'm not 100% sure on that, AND i forgot to mention to jump the connector, theres a blue? connector by the passengers lower kick panel, you have to jump that with a wire/paper clip to set the timing (make sure you do this) good luck
