new wiesco forged pistons and stock sleeves???
OK, i know that forged pistons and stock h23 sleeves won't work. But wiesco is supposed to have a piston with rings made to work with the stock sleeves. My question is that if the pistons work with the sleeves much pressure can the closed deck h23 sleeves take???
would it really be worth building a motor with stock sleaves though thats my question. might as well get darton installed for ~600
yea i was already planning to get my block resleeved, i was just curious of how strong the stock sleeves are??
i think the more important issue is how good the tuning will be. if there is no detonation, the stock sleeves should be enough for some moderate boost.

I have seen a few preludes w/ stock sleeves do ok under low boost, but who wants to run low boost? Suggestions would lead to resleeving. A "honda tuning" magazine ran a segment on a boosted 97 Prelude with a FMAX turbo kit that ran 12 pounds of boost on stock internals, but i highly doubt it. It's your $ so best of luck to you deciding.
It is possible to run 12psi on stock internals...for a few minutes at least!...
Wow...re-sleeving is that cheap?...$600!...
Is that with Ductile iron???...

i'm not talkin bout runnin all stock internals, i'm talkin bout running wiesco pistons eagle rods and stock sleeves. How strong are the sleeves?
Tuning would be the key. The stock h22a sleeves are pretty strong, the piston rings are the weak point. I would say with forged pistons/rods, and good tuning 15psi is possible at the track with race gas. 10-12psi daily. This would be good for over 300whp.
Yes running 10-12psi daily is very possible with aftermarket internals. The rings them selves are not the"weak point" piston. It's the ringlands, trust me, I know from experience. All four of my pistons cracked when they were pulled out. (They cracked not because they are running 9-10psi everyday, but because they were under over 20 pounds of boost.)
