Which clutch kit do you recomend for a turbo b series?
I always thought ACT was the best, but I didn't really have a reason too other then seeing success with them on others cars. Well now it's come time for me to be choosing a clutch for my b16 swap, and I'm not sure which kits are worth the money. To give you a little backround, for now this will be on the na b16, but im looking to donate it to a turbo b18 project in the future.
I want something that has the capability to hold at least twice that of the stock disc. Does this have more to do with the clamping force from the p plate or the clutch disc design? I was thinking if I did go ACT i would get the XTSS kit, extreme p plate and organic disc. Do you agree, what would be something similar that say exedy or clutch masters would offer? I heard exedy makes ACT's clutches so wouldnt it make sense to go with them since theyre cheaper?
Basically, if your knowledgeable about this subject I'd like to hear your words of advice and what youve seen to be a great product for the price.

ACT's clutches are great! i had mine in my b16 when i put it in... went from b16 into my ls motor and then my turbo ls motor and its the street disc... it has like 18000 miles on it and still holds like a ****! still grabs hard never slips not even that hard of a pedal... i love mine!
I SAY GO ACT!
I SAY GO ACT!
Exedy making ACT? HELL NO. Not to be blunt, but there are only two companies that have the clutch building abilities of ACT. They are ACT, and Clutch Specialties. What is so unique? Somehow, they both can make clutches that hold like a muthuh with little increase in pedal pressure.
Going with an ACT Xtreme PP and organic disc would hold your app, but it would be a little rough on your leg, since the Xtreme plate has a lot more stiffness built into it than their Heavy Duty. Alternatively, you could go with a HD PP and a 6-puck disc. You would have the hold, but it would still be tough to drive as their 6-puck is a solid center disc, making it impossible to drive smooth.
I suggest going with a Clutch Specialties Stage 3 PP and a Sprung Hub 6-puck. This will hold up to about 300 WHP, which you are not likely to exceed. This is roughly twice the capacity or stock, and maybe 3x capacity in terms of torque. Also, having the sprung hub, driving it will be smoother that it would be with a rigid center. The Stage 3 PP also is comarable to the HD from ACT.
Clutch Specialties units are for sale through Heeltoe Automotive, linkable through my sig.
