Get one, you really feel the difference, and since you got a 5th gen, do the obd II work around, you could find out where to do this at http://www.ntpog.org. I use a test pipe, and obd II workaround and i never through codes.

I have a '96 and i found one on ebay for like forty some bucks. Even though it was cheap i tried it anyways and it worked out great, pulls a lot harder and sounds a **** load better than a gutted cat. It did come with two o2 sensor holes so I found and old one and screwed it in and cut the wire off. I hooked the other right up, but you'll probably never get rid of your engine check light.

You can get a secondary O2 sim or make your own. They are out there. You don't want to run around with a CEL. Good Luck and save the planet
