Default LS rods in Z6 block? Which Pistons to use? Need info....

I plan on going boost in my Z6 in a couple of months. I picked up a set of LS rods with 60,000 miles on them for $35. Now, I have a 91 CRX Si with a Z6 engine in it with 7,000 miles on the engine. When I pull the block, what will I need to do to put the LS rods in? What kind of pistons should I use with them? Also, if I'm doing rods should I just go out and use Crower instead?

PS-I plan to boost 7-10 lbs. on a Greddy Kit.

why would you use LS rods for a FI project? a set of forged eagle rods can be had for around $300 and will provide a lot more insurance than stock rods, definitely use forged pistons, Endyn's rollerwave pistons are probably the best on the market

LS rods are plenty strong for what he's going to be doing. I think you can use the stock pistons with the LS rods, but you may have to do something about the piston pin. Not sure if it is the same O.D. or not. Do some searching, I'm sure this has been covered.

Or better yet, use that panda guys setup with the b16 rods and toyota pistons. It's cheap, and it sounds like it'd be perfect for what you need.

If you're gonna run 10 psi max with a Greddy then all you need is a stock sohc with about 150k miles or so on it

You can use either stock pistons, forged pistons for the sohc, or supra pistons, not sure what year though.

Hatchblack's right, the stock Z6 can handle that power.

If you have the LS rods *AND* you have to rebuild the engine, then I can't see why you can't use them for a little more beef in the bottom end. Once upon a time, it cost as much to buy + mod the LS rods as it did to buy a set of Eagles, but it is my understanding Crower has the bushings to make the 21mm LS rod mate to the 19mm D-series wrist pin for $8/per. You may still have to have the sides of the LS rod's small end milled to fit in the piston, but I can see you being in + out of an LS rod swap for ~$80 total, including what you've already spent.

Screw a set of forged pistons. As long as the cast pistons are of good quality (Hondas are) you can run a lot more boost past them than your sleeves and rods will handle. Until you get a bigger turbo, your weak spots lie elsewhere.

Did you really need to ask this? $35 compared to $300? with the LS rods the limiting factor is the block, not the rods...I'm sure he'd crack a sleeve before he threw an LS rod in the z6 block...besides, not everyone is made of money (including me!).

I currently have LS rods using JE pistons (d series pistons). The small end has to be rebushed to fit the wrist pins.
