Default Check out this speaker box

Check out this new box we are working on for a customers car. It will hold 4 12" Macintosh subs. It is going to be painted a metallic blue with a blue Candy prizm flake then cleared with 4-5 coats. Let me know what you think of the box so far.

Yep we test fit everything many times throughout the process. The Mac subs are not really that deep, but other subs like kickers will fit as well.

I should have pics available either late tomorrow or tuesday of the finished box. We are just building the front part that you see. The customer is building the the rest of the box out of MDF. We can build you anything from mild to wild when it comes to fiberglass.

No it is from house of colors. looks nothing like EBP in person. My fiance has an 00 SI so I can compare very easily. This color is more of a turquise in the light. It has a prizm flake in it as well. It is a blue mettalic base coat with a blue prizm candy mid coat then cleared.

Alright, teg... I got a couple of questions... Thats fiberglass? Why does it look black like thta and all in the first pic, primer? I also am working on my own box, amazingly I have no experience or clue what I am doing and i think mine is going really well. I was wondering how you got ur boxes to be so perfectly smooth. Mine is pretty nice, but nothing to the quality of that, and is there anything I can do to make it a lil smoother looking before I paint it, aside form sanding it all off and starting over. Like caulk or some other cheap and easy hole filler like bondo. My box, like my car has a few dent, abnormalities if you will.

Well there is a special product that we use to help smooth everything out after the initial sanding. It is sprayed on and is a polyester based product. The downside is that it is $100+ per gallon and you can use quite a bit since it is sprayed on really thick to cover abnormalities. It is a 2 part product with hardener and must be sprayed within the 30 minutes before it catalyzes. After that we spray on a catalyzed 2k Primer Surfacer that fills any remaining imperfections. The only other reccomendations I can make are making sure the box is as perfect as you can get before starting to glass. And while glassing using only the required amount of resin to soak the material and no extra. We have been doing this for some time now and know all the tricks you can say. The bad part is that in making a box like this is that there are literally 2 days of sanding by hand to get the item ready for paint.
