sub box?
I have a 99 prelude base and i have a box for 2 12's and its like 2 inches to big to sit all the way in the rear of the car it doesn't pass the fender wells. Does anyone know of a box for two 12's that does or you have one in your car now any help would be awesome i can't seem to find one for my trunk and wonder if anybody has any pics or ideas of solutions to fix this problem. Also what are the best subs to run off a 800 watt kenwood 2 channel amp as of 2 12's.
i have a box that will fit i just took it out of my car becaue one sub broke it will just fit in i had it in stalled and when i took it out it took a lot of pulling but it will fit
when u say it will fit will it go all the way back to the back through to the back seat or just sit in there leaving like 4 feet of unused space in there. Because that is what mine does I was justy wondering if anybody had one that went all the way back for 2 12's because my box misses going back like 2 inches one on both sides.

Also what are the best subs to run off a 800 watt kenwood 2 channel amp as of 2 12's. I was told by a shop sterio king about mtx 4500's and they are only 300 watt rms but i wanted more like 500 would that amp be able to handle a bigger sub or not, or is another sub better if so what?
I am assuming this means your amp is 400w per channel then?
The general rule I follow is to make sure your amp is stronger than what you need, that way you have as much adjustability as possible. I would say that 300w subs are perfect for an 800w amp. Your amp would power the 500w subs but it would get to its max output before the subs do, and then you're blowing your amp fuses (hopefully you have them anyway). If you really want the 500w subs, I would suggest bumping up to at least a 600w-per-channel sub. But you can also get around that by wiring up your subs differently.
I don't want to turn this into a sound school section, but the resistance (Ohm load) is more important to account for if you really want to get serious about it. Are your subs single or dual voice coil? and at what Ohm? how about your amp?
For what kind - I run nothing but Audiobahn, but I think I'm in the minority on that one.
EDIT: Sorry I got a little off topic, but as far as your speaker box.....you could build one. Yeah, the first is usually ugly but as long as you get the dimensions right for your subs - the sound will kick ***! (You can always carpet over the ugliness
)

well first of all you have to make sure your power wire can handle that increase in watts..i would recommend 4 guage, but overpowering an amp is badddd. and the best way to get those subs in ur trunk would be to build the box yourself, there are many sites and people online which will give u blueprints for your box for around 5 dollars. you will only need to give them ur sub make and model, recommended enclosure in cubic feet, and space limitations. after that, mdf board and a jig saw is all u need. and if it comes down to it, you could just break out ur tape measure and do everything yourself

I would use this if i were you, and i would make the subs point towards the wheel well bc it is going to b quite hard to fit 2 12's in if they are at the same angle. This will have some effect on sound, but nothing a little dynomat could not cure. I have a pioneer premier 12 which i run at 300rms http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/2862 and it it keeps up with my components and has rediculous range and recovery.
If you have the $$ http://www.reaudio.com has unbeatable sound quality in all of their subs.
also when building the box, make sure you pre-drill EVERYTHING mdf board is layered and will split compromising sound quality if you try to hand screw

thanks for your help the idea of pointing the subs toward the sides is good i never thought of that thanks alot for the input I found the alpine type R's 12's for sale at http://www.ikesound.com/images/ebay/3158.jpg for 115$ a piece those are 500 watt rms and 1500 peak has anybody herd good things about them?? Also if I got those would my kenwood amp be suitible to run them at 800 watts or would another amp with more power be better????? If so what amp for those subs>???
A qlogic type 1 for two 12s will fit i have it in mine.
I believe this is it unless they changed the demensions

14 lbs?? that sounds like its all fiberglass..house the bass response from that?
i shaved my box down to about 20-22 lbs and it def had a big effect on the sound.
and that box that kulrevon posted is a steal for $89, considering most qlogic boxes are made out of wood similar to plywood and this one full mdf with grilles.

Yes you are in the minority there, and there is a reason for that, audiobahn is junk. It looks nice (if ur into rice) but isnt built well. build a box that loads off of the floor that will fit ur 12" subs.

thanks for the input the space I have is like 31 3/4" for the fender well to fender well and thats where i want to put the box. So hopefully the qlogic box will fit with the width of 31 7/8" maybe if I cut some of the carpet on the side im thinking?????? Anybody ever done this before? Or in a 5th gen put 2 12's in that spot pics anyone would be very helpful.

The only way I like rice is in my burrito at Taco Bell.
You're half right....the "T" series (natural sound) in Audiobahn definitely sucks. As far as your opinion goes....you're entitled to whatever you'd like to think. I like them and the sound I get from them, I've custom-built all my boxes so that I could tune the subs - not just throw them in a grey carpet box and say "Yo, ma toonz be bitchin' yo!" Lol, anyway....getting into the age-old arguement of A vs B (Coke/Pepsi, Chevy/Ford, sex/*******) isn't going to do anything except take up space on this thread.

Is that with your trunk liner still in? You're only talking about 1/8" difference, I would think that the carpet on the box and your trunk liner would give enough for you to "persuade" it in there. Even better, the fit may be just tight enough that permanent mounting won't get be needed- that way you could take out your box anytime if you had to.

I had two 12' alpine type R's with a jbl 1200 watt till it got stolen.
Now I have two 12' alpine type E's with an mtx 800 watt that i picked up for $100 for everything from a friend
I wish I had my type R's back
