what causes bolts to loosen?
i checked my motor today, heard an exhaust leak, and saw my downpipe screws came loose the exhaust side of the turbo, why would they loosen up? TIA
1 - vibration
2 - not being properly torqued when put on
3 - if they are a pipe bolt thread (the threads will be more of a v shape than say an exhaust bolt) they should have a substance such as lock tite on them.
best advise... invest in a good quality torque wrench and set them to the proper specs.
good luck man.

What size pipes are you using for your turbo? Maybe the piping is causing some air restrictions that can loosen your your bolts and will cause exhaust leak.. Just a thought...
edit: by piping I mean the exhaust piping...

im runnin a 2.5inch downpipe.... then i talked to another buddy and he mentioned.... since the turbo will cause great heat, then later cool, the metal will expand then contract, allowing for the bolts to come loose... made sense to me
