Default timing belt tensioner

what all does it take to convert the auto-tensioner into a manual one
I have a 5th gen...the auto-tensioner has F$%K up twice first time it was
idleing second time i was goin about 50-60 at full throttle it hit the rev-limit
at about 4-5000 and died.......my intake cam was off by 180*......needless to
say my valves where F!@KED....my sig. has all the improvments i am making

I hope that you resleeved that block for the forged pistons...

And if your cam was off 180* (is that possible?)...how the heck did it drive?!

You have a 98 Lude? Those H22a4's are open deck. Only the H22a1 (93-95) were closed deck.

And if you want to know more about running forged pistons in ANY H series, please do a search, as we've discussed this MANY MANY times... I'll just say this, FRM + forged pistons = BLEH!

Search Owns

And if you're gonna run forged pistons in an H22 you might as well tension your timing belt with scotch tape.

Or better yet, use a big rubberband as a timing belt.

J/P, we're just giving you a hard time. But running forged pistons in a stock sleeve H series motor is just asking for trouble. Anyone have that pic where the cylinder walls were all scuffed up by someone who ran forged pistons in their stock sleeved H22?

so you would spend thousands of dollars on parts and labor to rebuild your engine, only tear up your cylinder sleeves and your pistons??? do it right the first time, or dont do it at all...

Maybe a month until the scoring got so bad you would have to add oil daily...
