turbo all the way. Everybody is going the b16,18 route and not even considering the d-series engine. It can be very potent

turbo will be much quicker obvioulsy but way less reliabe on a old motor like that.

Yup, I'd go with a JDM B16 since they "supposedly" have 30k miles on it. Fresh new motor.

Turbo will be quicker (depending on boost) but will probably be less reliable in the long run.

Dont even bother with the turbo. Its to much stress on an old motor, "forced induction." It'll be hella fast, but not to reliable in the long run.

home made turbo? unless you are a professional, or have a professional helping you, id say the B16.

backyard tuning is nothing to play with especially when it comes to forced induction

That's why we have a forced induction forum. I say turbo all the way.

a turbo forum is in no way a substitution for professional dyno tuning, the only place a turbo should be tuned. blindly turning up boost without using a dyno, and guessing at the fuel and ingnition requirements is asking for trouble.

It's pretty hard to f@#k up a motor with low boost. You can get enought help here at HT and people in your area will help out that I wouldn't worry at all about turboing a motor with a home made kit.
<----- who lives less than a block away from a chassis dyno and plows there lot in winter for dyno time

I whould go with the turbo, think of the BOV. They say that it is easy to bolt a turbo on to the hf manifold.
