VAFC familiarization involving the "hack"...questions
I've read every possible search results on H-T and tech article of http://www.thedropshop.com but I could not come to a few solid conclusion. My biggest problem is actually the familiarization of the VAFC itself. The pictures on the site were helpful but I still need info due to a my mental block on electronics. I have a D16Y8 boosting with GReddy at 7psi with stock FPR and fuel pump for now until I install my 255LPH BBK in-tank and B&M command flo. I have all the gadgetries to rig the hack (resistor box, APEXi VAFC, and DSM 450cc's). I reviewed the manual, but I'm just not a tuning oriented person. These are my questions:
1) Are all sensor type setting should be on "6 in / 6 out"?
2) Under Cyl number setting and Throttle Type Sensor setting, should it be on "4 with an arrow pointed up"?
3)I understand how to set the Narrow and Wide throttle low//hi cam setting, but how to I actually set the RPM versus fuel percentage? I am under the inpression that I should be good at 1-4K= -40% and 5-8K= -35%, BUT to set this, do I go to: "Ne-P.Hvt and Ne-P.Lvt"? Do I set both Low and Hi cam the same? I know that the throttle set-point crossover should be the same (98% Lo / 99% Hi) as long as it's above 71%/72%.
4) What does "intialize" do? Do I select yes after completing the whole set-up?
5) Can I do a "blue wire" mod on a VAFC or does it apply only to SAFC?
I apologize for my ignorance and I know that some of you are sick of hearing question regarding the VAFC hack, let alone teaching somebody how to use a VAFC. Thank you for your time.

2) YES
3) Your Ne-P.Hvt and Ne-P.Lvt setting will allow you to choose the increments of the RPM band your going to set on the Low/High cam sides of both Narrow/Wide Throttle. This menu is merely to set the ranges, the actual percentages are set in the Setting-->Wide Thr and Narr Thr options. The throttle crossover doesn't matter 98/99% or 1/2%- since both the WIde/Narrow and High/Low are the same.
4) INITIALIZE will RESET all the settings to default-Don't press it unless you want to start over
5) YES
HTH.
Thanks a lot. I'm gonna give it a shot.
Oh, when you relpied YES to the "blue wire" mod, did you mean, YES I can do it on my VAFC? A "YES" answer on the way I wrote the question is not really clear. Thanks tegcon

I completed the task. Awesome! The throttle response is priceless! Anyway, I just need inputs on how to do the "blue wire" mod, with wiring schematic/drawing if possible. Thanks
thanks for all your help tegcon
. According to that thread, the blue wire on the VAFC is hooked up already as the VTM tap. I'll check mine to make sure. I'm almost positive that it is hooked up like that......
